Bimini
(9 sq. miles / population 1,717)

Just a 20-minute seaplane ride from Miami, big game fishing devotees have headed to Bimini for decades (including Ernest Hemingway). More than a dozen billfish tournaments are held here annually. Bimini is also home to two of The Bahamas more enduring and fascinating legends. Some scientists believe that huge limestone blocks located in 20 feet of water off the coast of Bimini (yes, you can dive here) are relics of the Lost City of Atlantis. Less tangible, but perhaps more alluring if you’re over 20, is the legend that Ponce de Léon’s Fountain of Youth lies undiscovered in Bimini.

ATTRACTIONS: Tongue of the Ocean, Ernest Hemingway Museum, Hemingway’s Hideaways, Fountain of Youth, fishing tournaments

ACTIVITIES: diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating, swimming, biking, kayaking, wild dolphin excursions.

Do you want to live forever? Well discover the world famous Fountain of Youth on the tranquil isle of Bimini. Bask in what Ponce de Leon missed some five hundred years ago.
