Acklins Island
(150 sq. miles / population 428)

These islands are ideal for visitors who wish to get away from it all. Crooked Island and Acklins are enclosed in a shallow lagoon known as the Bight of Acklins. Loyalists settled on the islands in the late 1780's establishing over 40 cotton plantations with over 1,000 slaves. Today the islands are sparsely populated and offer true tranquility and historical ruins.
